A Day in the Life of a WILDE High School Student
The monotony of a bell based academic routine can be a major detractor to the enjoyment of many students’ high school experience. Apex WILDE educational model recognizes this and has been designed to be flexible and dynamic, taking advantage of the season and learning opportunities.

8:45AM - 9:10AM
Students check in with their mentor educator to set intentions and the day's agenda. On days when students are working remotely, the mentor educator ensures students are maintaining a balanced routine and making progress on the goals and objectives they’ve set for the day.
We work closely with individuals and families to create a schedule tailored to their specific needs. While we encourage students to attend in person whenever possible, they have the flexibility to choose certain days to work off campus from home or while traveling.

8:45AM - 9:10AM
Arrival and Social Time
Hang out with friends, have a tea, and chat about the latest news at the Wilde Cafe before the rigors of the day begin.

9:10AM - 9:30AM
Morning Assembly
The day begins with a school-wide assembly, incorporating group exercises to promote physical health and/or meditation to prepare students for the day ahead.
9:30AM - 10:30AM
Outdoor Exploration
Emphasizing the school's commitment to outdoor education, students participate in activities such as hiking or trail building, combined with reflective subject-matter conversations in nature, connecting classroom knowledge with real-world experiences.
OR, IN WINTER...
Cross Country Skiing
In the winter months, students get to experience cross country skiing on over 100 acres of land available at the WILDE campus.

10:30 AM – 12:30 PM
Academic Engagement
Students engage in coursework tailored to the Wilde Educational Philosophy that meets the requirements of the Ontario Provincial Curriculum. Lessons can take place online or through the guidance of a mentor.
This approach allows for independent study at the students own pace of learning, virtual collaboration with peers and instructors, and access to online educational resources. Whether it's completing assignments, attending virtual lectures, or engaging in discussion forums, students take ownership of their learning in a flexible digital environment.

12:30 PM – 1:15 PM
Lunch
Students enjoy their packed lunches and have time for relaxation or socializing, bonding with friends & fostering a sense of community.

1:15 PM – 2:45 PM
Experiential Learning / Project Time
Students dive into hands-on projects that integrate subjects like science, technology, arts, and the humanities. Whether working individually or in groups, they apply their knowledge to real-world challenges, develop critical thinking skills, and explore creative solutions.
This time may also be used for service-learning projects, mentorship meetings, or co-op-related work.
1:15 PM – 2:45 PM
Co-op Placement & Community
Most of our in-person days take place at our main campus, but students also spend time in the field — participating in co-op placements, volunteering, and working on community service projects.
There are also opportunities to work off-campus at libraries, co-working spaces, other Wilde School locations!

Wilderness Expeditions
Inspired by Outward Bound methodologies, group activities & leadership exercises in the wilderness is a cornerstone of WILDE’s curriculum.
Wilderness expeditions are designed to foster personal growth, resilience, and a deeper connection to nature. By stepping away from traditional classroom settings, students engage in transformative experiences that promote self-discovery and teamwork.

2:45 PM – 3:30 PM
Student-Run Clubs & Studio Time
Apex WILDE students have the opportunity to participate in Studio Time, a dedicated block for pursuing personal passions, creative projects, or independent study. This flexible period also includes student-run clubs, where learners can create and lead initiatives tailored to their interests while mentoring younger students.
Whether they're organizing a coding club, leading an outdoor adventure group, engaging in debate, or launching an environmental action campaign, students build leadership skills, collaborate with peers, and take initiative. Studio Time empowers students to explore new ideas, reflect on their interests, and contribute to the school community in meaningful ways.
3:30 PM – 4:00 PM
Self-Awareness and Reflection
The day concludes with journaling exercises and the use of tools like the "Balance Wheel," encouraging students to reflect on their emotions, behaviors, and overall well-being.
This reflection period helps students develop self-awareness, resilience, and a sense of personal growth. Set the intention for the evening and the day to follow.
